National Ambassador for Young People's Literature Visits Mill Creek Middle 香港六合彩开奖网

The curiosity was plain to see on the students' faces as they filed into Mill Creek Middle 香港六合彩开奖网's cafeteria one by one. They were in for a treat as the current National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, Meg Medina, took the stage to entertain and educate the kids through her storytelling and critical discussion about the importance of literacy. During her presentation, four students acted as "cuentistas," or storytellers, conducting a book talk with Ms. Medina and sharing their favorite books with her. 

"I received an email in the spring of 2022 calling for proposals to have Meg Medina visit a school to promote books and the love of reading," said Mill Creek's Teacher Librarian Nathan Sun-Kleinberger. "I teamed with the Kent branch of the King County Library, and we filled out the application. We were delighted to learn in May that our proposal was accepted."

The National Ambassador for Young People's Literature raises national awareness of the importance of young people's literature as it relates to lifelong literacy, education, and the development and betterment of the lives of young people. As part of her term as National Ambassador, Ms. Medina is visiting schools to engage readers across the country, promoting her  encouraging children of all ages to discuss their favorite books.
